Activities done in the months of January & February in the Pre-Primary Department

POTATO PEELING ACITIVITY

The potato peeling activity was done in Montessori on 25 January 2018. All the kids were told to bring a boiled potato. The teacher taught them to peel the potato. The objective behind this activity was to enhance their fine motor skills. After the potato peeling was over, the potatoes were chopped and garnished with salt, lemon and chat masala.The teachers prepared  lip smacking ‘Alu-Chaat’ along with the kids. The kids relished it.

FARM ACTIVITY

The Farm Week was celebrated from 12 February to 16 February on the School premises. Various activities like role play with the help of props, craft activities like ‘Rooster and Hen making’ with the help of paper plates and palm printing was done. The last day was totally filled with excitement when the Montessori kids came along with their parents and visited the real ‘Farm House’ featuring live animals organized by the School. Kids were given their file folders wherein the worksheets done during the week were inserted. They were given a food packet after their visit.

SAFETY ON WHEELS

On 2 February 2018, the Pre-Primary wing of MCKV organized an activity to sensitize the children on road safety. The theme ‘Safety on wheels’ started with a role play by some of the children of KG about the essential roles of the traffic police and a driver. Props of different vehicles, signals and signage were put up. The children wrote slogans and read aloud. Each and every section prepared songs and recited rhymes based on road safety. The Nursery teachers enacted a role play in their respective classrooms. The kids actively participated in colouring the traffic lights in their scrap books.

HOLI CELEBRATION

The Pre-Primary wing of MCKV celebrated the festival of Holi on 28.02.2018. The teachers briefed the kids about the significance of the festival. On this occasion, the children of Montessori participated in a flower printing activity. The Nursery children had palm printing while the children of KG, with great enthusiasm, were involved in ‘brush printing’. The class teachers applied colours on the children to make the children feel happy and excited.
