When does the Academic year begin?
The academic year begins in the first week of April and ends in the last week of March. Saturdays and Sundays-the weekends are designated holidays, though Saturdays are assigned for compulsory extra-curricular activities.


What is the medium of instruction?
English being the global communicator, the school has chosen English as the instructive medium. However, keeping in mind the richness of Indian languages, the vernaculars are also emphasized.


What about vacations and excursions?
School vacation details are summarized in the school Calendar. During vacations, the school organizes excursions and short trips to places of interest in and around Kolkata, and also outside the state.


What are the school hours?

School hours are from 8.40 am. to 3.00 pm. The timings schedule for different classes is as follows

Can I know something about the curriculum?

In the Primary Section   :  English Language & Literature, Hindi/Bengali, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art & Craft, Drawing, SUPW, Computers (Class I onwards), Moral Science and General Knowledge.

In the Secondary Section: English Language & Literature, Hindi/Bengali, 3rd Language, Mathematics, SUPW, Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology),History, Geography, Art & Craft, Computer Science, Moral Science, General Knowledge, Sixth Subject in Classes IX & X.


How can I be sure that my child participates in extra and co-curriculum activities?

The School has a spacious playground with good facilities for indoor and outdoor games. Going beyond textbooks, the school ensures students’ holistic development by exposing him to activities like quizzes, debates, elocution contests, declamation contests, recitation, essay competitions and dramatics. A diversified approach to extra-curricular, activities helps every student to find his chosen passion - be it Martial Arts (Judo and karate), Roller Skating, Basket Ball, Soccer, Volley ball, Athletics, Painting. Art and Craft, Yoga, Music (Vocal and Instrumental), Harmonium, Tabla, Indian Classical Music are also given due importance.

MCKV aims at global standards, as these four instances testify:

School Computer Centre: MCKV has sophisticated computer centre, Internet-enabled and equipped with latest educational software and hardware.

School Laboratories: State-of-the-art laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology make these subjects more rewarding for students. The Geography and History Departments have their own laboratories. Besides these, the Mathematics and Robotics Laboratories have also been introduced. Audio-Visual Centre: Modern and interactive AV teaching aids take learning beyond text books.

Library : A large and comprehensive selection of books, national and international magazines, a rich collection of video and audio tapes, and CDs, with viewing facilities, make the school library a treasure trove of learning.

MCKV prides on the unflagging support and enthusiasm of its valued and committed people. Faculty: MCKV has a team of highly-qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers lead by a Principal of many years’ experience as an educator in reputed schools. The Managing Committee and The Governing Council: Distinguished personages, experienced and skilled in several walks of life, serve on these august bodies. They guide, mentor, and advise the Principal and his team with regard to the various aspects of running a complex organization like MCKV.

In summer

The P.T. uniformHouse jersey, white trousers (shorts for Classes I-IV), black shoes and white socks are to be worn on days when there are P.T. Classes. In winter, Classes I - IV will wear white trousers.

Relevant activity dress compulsory for all Activity Classes. Classes XI and XII should wear their PT uniform on the days they have Activities.

  • SHOES : The brand will be recommended by the school from time to time depending on the availability of stock in the market.

What facilities are available for games and sports?
The school students may choose from a wide option of sports and games. These include cricket, football, hockey, badminton, table tennis, basketball, athletics and classical dances etc.
