MCKV celebrates World English Language Day

Published on: 23 Apr 2024

On 23 April 2024, the English Department of M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth celebrated World English Language Day with a diverse range of fun-filled activities for students of different levels. The day also marked the birth anniversary of William Shakespeare, arguably the greatest playwright in the language, inspiring students of Classes 10 and 12 to compose and perform an original skit in honour of Shakespeare's timeless works. Our Class 12 pupils also hosted a lively English quiz for Classes 7 and 8 aiming to enhance vocabulary and ignite love for the English language.

Children of Classes 1 and 2 adorned their respective classrooms with a vibrant Crafts Corner, exhibiting masks, headgear, bookmarks, and puppets of popular fictional characters. Meanwhile, boys of Classes 3 and 4 participated in a unique activity, designing their own ‘passports’ with a creative twist to celebrate the power of language. This activity was part of a cross-cultural collaborative study with our partner schools in Japan and the UK.

The celebrations not only left a lasting impression on our students about the role of English language in fostering global communication and understanding but also taught them to accept and appreciate linguistic and cultural diversity.
