'At the dawn of history, India started on her unending quest, and trackless centuries are filled with her striving and the grandeur of her success and her failures. Through good and ill fortune alike, she has never lost sight of that quest or forgotten the ideals which gave her strength.'
These words of Jawaharlal Nehru remind us that a Republic India was a result of some 200 years of struggle for freedom from the British. Republic Day is indeed a day of pride and honour for every patriot of India, as it was on this day, in the year 1950, that India became a Sovereign Democratic country and from this day started, as Nehru rightly said, our never-ending quest to bring more pride and glory to our motherland.
With this firm belief, the 69th Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at M.C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth on 26th January, 2018. The students saluted the National Flag and pledged to uphold the honour, integrity, diversity and uniqueness of India. The Chief Guest of the occasion was by Dr.Ashish Kumar Sana, Professor in the Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta, and the Director of the Calcutta Stock Exchange Centre of Excellence in Financial Markets. The programme commenced with the welcoming of the Chief Guest, followed by the ceremonial March Past by the students of M.C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth. The tri- colour was unfurled by our Chief Guest. The spirit of the day enhanced with the echoing sound of the National Anthem.
The choir group presented a patriotic song 'Maa go bhabna naa keno go....'. This was followed by a speech on the significance of the Republic Day by the school Vice- Captain. The Chief Guest along with the Vice Chairman and the Principal honoured the prize winners of various co-curricular activities. After this, a melodious instrumental music compostion was presented by the children. The Chief Guest inspired the students with his motivational words. Our revered Vice Chairman, Shri Kishan Kumar Kejriwal and dear Principal Sir, Mr. Neelkantha Gupta, felicitated the Dr. Sana and presented him with a memento.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Green House Vice-Captain.
In addition to all these items, the grandeur of the day was greatly enhanced by the Flower Show that was organised by the school. A wide variety of flowers were exhibited which added to the colour, purity and freshness prevailing in the morning atmosphere.
' A man's feet must be planted in his country, but his eyes should survey the world'. We sincerely hope that today's generation would be true patriots who would come together to start a journey of peace, harmony and progress.
