Internal Complaints Committee

OBJECTIVES

MCKV is committed to providing all its employees an environment free of gender based discrimination. The Institution is dedicated to ensuring enactment, observance and adherence of guidelines and best practices that prevent and prosecute commission of acts of sexual harassment. We believe that all individuals have the right to be treated with dignity. Management shows zero tolerance towards any form, level or degree of sexual harassment.

This policy applies to all allegations of sexual harassment made by any employees of the Institution against another employee irrespective of whether sexual harassment is alleged to have taken place within or outside Institutions premises. If an individual commits an act in violation of this policy, whether an employee of the Institution or a third party dealing with the Institution, the Institution will take appropriate measures under the circumstances.

 

OBLIGATIONS OF THE INSTITUTION

MCKV shall be responsible for the following:

  1. Prohibit, prevent and deter commission of acts of sexual harassment;
  2. Implement the Policy by providing a discrimination and hostility free work environment;
  3. Spread awareness of the Policy amongst its employees, by circulation of the Policy;
  4. Sensitizing employees about sexual harassment issues;
  5. Provide fair and impartial procedures for resolution by taking all necessary steps.

INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE MEMBERS

This committee will deal with all cases of alleged sexual harassment escalated to it by any employee to prevent and deal with sexual harassment. The members of this committee are as follows:

FILING A COMPLAINT

Any employee will have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICC about sexual harassment against an employee or a third party interacting with the Institution, in accordance with the terms of the Policy. The following steps will be followed in this regard:

  1. An employee has to make a written complaint addressed to the Presiding Officer of the committee;
  2. An employee lodging a complaint will be provided full confidentiality at this stage;
  3. No person against whom a complaint is made shall be part of the ICC;
  4. Within three (3) working days of the receipt of the complaint, the ICC will convene a meeting for which advance written notice will be given to the complainant;
