Empowering Parents: Nurturing Growth Without Pressure

Published on: 20 Jun 2025

On 20 June 2025, a meaningful parent counselling session was held for the parents of Class 4 on the theme “Supporting Academic Growth Without Pressure.” The session was conducted by school counsellors, Dr Apala Chatterjee and Ms Mousumi Chowdhury, along with special educator, Ms Soumi Banerjee. It focused on guiding parents to foster their children's academic development in a supportive, stress-free, and balanced manner.

The session opened with an engaging discussion on the typical learning traits of children aged 9 to 10. The counsellors explained how children at this stage begin to display greater independence and curiosity, while also becoming more susceptible to peer comparisons and external expectations. The special educator provided insights into recognising early signs of learning difficulties and addressing them with care, avoiding undue academic pressure.

Parents were encouraged to maintain consistent communication with teachers and remain attentive to both the emotional and academic well-being of their children.

An interactive open forum followed, allowing parents to share concerns and receive thoughtful, practical advice from the experts. The session was warmly received, with parents expressing appreciation for the empathetic tone and actionable strategies shared.
