It is undeniable that the group we mix with has a profound influence on the way we think and act. This is particularly applicable to adolescents. Developing brains, emerging identities, societal expectations, and a desire to fit in a group make adolescents vulnerable. With the objective of helping our students to cope with these struggles, the Wellness Centre of M.C.Kejriwal Vidyapeeth organized an interactive session with the students of Class 8 on Peer Pressure and Self-Esteem on Tuesday, 25 July 2023.
Sharing real-life analogies, Mr Amitabh Mohan, renowned Psychologist, Founder and MD of HLS India, along with Ms Apala Chatterjee and Ms Mousumi Choudhury, school counsellors, helped our students undersand the far-reaching consequences of negative peer pressure. Valuable suggestions on how to develop self-esteem and confidence were also discussed. Through videos and interesting activities, students were made aware of how to deal with peer pressure.
The interactive question-answer segment offered innovative solutions to the day-to-day problems related to peer groups that the students face. At the end of the hour-long session, our students were definitely better equipped to handle peer pressure.
