Leadership Excellence Programme at M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth

On 5th and 6th of August 2024, M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth successfully conducted a comprehensive Leadership Training Programme designed to augment leadership skills, simultaneously focusing on enriching knowledge, behaviour and mindset to lead decisively, and prepare students to become effective leaders within the school community and beyond. The two-day all-encompassing course was attended by the Prefectorial Body Members of Classes 9, 10, and 11.

The first day focused on understanding the essence and laying the foundation of leadership. Following an ice-breaker session, Mr Biswajit Majumdar, Headmaster, conducted a session on leadership styles and principles, creating scope for cultivating dynamic leadership approach among the students. Ms Sanchita Sarkar, Secondary Stage Coordinator, conducted an activity-based session on design thinking. To encourage critical thinking and deepen problem solving abilities, students were then presented with scenarios posing challenges in leadership. After deliberating with their team, students came up with remarkable solutions.

The second day was dedicated to applying the skills learned on day one. The day began with an insightful session on mindfulness and emotional intelligence, conducted by Ms Mousumi Chowdhury, the School Counsellor, following this, Ms Amrita Sengupta, Preparatory Stage teacher, who also served as the Activity Coordinator for several years, guided the students into planning a school project. Mr Pushpam Chatterjee, Head of Mathematics Department, conducted a workshop on communication and soft skills, focusing on how these skills often set a leader apart. The highlight of the training session was the panel discussion on leadership moderated by Ms Barnali Guha, Secondary Stage teacher. The esteemed panellists included Mr Neelkantha Gupta, Director, Ms Lipika Dhar, Head of Biology Department, Ms Kathika Dasgupta, Preparatory Stage teacher and Md. Shahid Dayer (ISC 2022 batch), the former School Captain. The panellists answered questions on leadership drawing references from real life situations.

The final leg of the programme focused on group reflections and an action plan session led by Ms Sanchita Sarkar. The forum concluded with giving away certificates of participation to the young student leaders by Mr Neelkantha Gupta, Director.
