The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth on 15 August 2023. The celebration aimed to inculcate a deep sense of national pride among students by honouring the sacrifices made by our forefathers in their quest for a free and united India.
The day commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony amidst the beats of drums and the march drill. The national flag was hoisted by the honourable Chief Guest, Dr Ushnik Sen, Surveillance Medical Officer, World Health Organisation-NPSP. As the tricolour fluttered, a melodious rendition of our national anthem was sung.
The cultural programme that followed in the school auditorium was a mesmerising medley of performances that paid homage to our vibrant cultural heritage. Students from various grades presented a harmonious blend of patriotic songs, instrumental rendering, and choreographic depictions of freedom struggle from the lives of revolutionaries such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Bhagat Singh, Rani Laxmibai, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi. Students also presented a video to reflect on a poignant chapter of our nation’s history–the Partition of Bengal 1905, to serve as a reminder that unity can never be taken for granted, and harmony requires vigilant protection.
Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners of various Inter-House Competitions of the scholastic session 2023-2024, acknowledging and appreciating the commendable efforts of students. In his address, the honourable Chief Guest, Dr Ushnik Sen, emphasised on the significance of freedom and urged the students to be positive and enthusiastic and enjoy the journey of life upholding the true spirit of patriotism. Shri Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, MCKV Chairman, advised the students to build the future India through knowledge and strong values keeping aside all the hurdles and challenges. The speech delivered by the School Captain, Uday Bansal, highlighted the role of youth in shaping the country’s future.
