M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth hosts the CISCE Regional Boxing Tournament 2023

M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth hosted the regional boxing tournament 2023(West Bengal and North East Region) for the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi for the first time in its history on Saturday, 1 July 2023.The Chief Guest for the day was Mr Saurasish Lahiri, a national cricketer and the coach of the senior Bengal Cricket Team. Mr Sailesh Pandey, the Co-ordinator, CISCE Games and Sports and Principal, Ratnakar North Point School also joined for the event. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Mr Dhiman Ghosh, Co-ordinator, Ratnakar North Point School, Mr Goswami Singh, Secretary and Chief Coach of Howrah Boxing Association, Mr Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, Chairman , Mr Neelkantha Gupta, Director, Ms Mallika Mukherjee, Principal, and Mr Biswajit Majumdar, Headmaster.
The opening ceremony began with a procession by the young boxers of the 13 participating schools followed by the National Anthem invoking a sense of patriotism, unity and pride in every heart present. Kindling of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries and the felicitation of the guests in traditional style and the dance performance by the students of MCKV created a unique ambience. Mr Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, Chairman, MCKV, delivered the welcome address. Mr Sailesh Pandey and the Chief Guest, Mr Saurasish Lahiri, in their enlightening speeches, motivated the young sportsmen to make sports an integral part of their lives and the Chief Guest formally declared the meet open.
All the budding pugilists took part in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories and captivated the audiences with their display of talent, determination and sportsmanship spirit.There were some nail-biting moments and the tournament turned out to be super exciting for everyone. After the series of brilliant boxing bouts, the results were finally announced and MCKV has been declared as the Overall Champion and Agrasain Boys' School was adjudged as the Runner-up School. Devaans Pareek of ABS bagged the recognition of the Best Boxer (Under -14, 32-34 Kg.) and Pratyush Jaiswal of MCKV won the title of the Most Promising Boxer (Under-14, 30-32 Kg.). The tournament drew to a close with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Biswajit Majumdar, Headmaster, MCKV.
