“MATHEMAGIC”- A Maths Exhibition for the students of MCKV

The Table Tennis Room of M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth witnessed a marvellous gathering of budding mathematicians of MCKV.  Together they presented Mathemagic, a Maths Exhibition on Wednesday, 18 January 2023. The expo was inaugurated by our Chairman, Shri. Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, Director, Mr. Neelkanth Gupta, Principal of MCKV Institute of Engineering, Dr. Abhijit Lahiri, Principal, Mrs. Mallika Mukherjee and Headmaster, Mr. Biswajit Majumdar.

The entire room looked dressed-to-the-occasion, being decked up in mathematical symbols, equations, sketches of Mathematicians, charts and models. The exhibits, tricks, puzzles, brainteasers and charts on display reflected the hardwork and ingenuity of our students. The sundial, Geo box, Multiplication table, Trick O Mania, Guess the shape, Magnetic Puzzle, Truth Detector, Collatz Conjecture deserve special mention.

Our guests appreciated the efforts shown by the students. The judges for the day were Mrs. Kalyani Dutta, retired Physics teacher of MCKV and two of our beloved past pupils and Alumni members, Sayantan Porel (currently pursuing MSc in Mathematics from Jadavpur University) and Agniv Ghosh, ( a student of Computer Engineering from Jadavpur University. Our Judges had a difficult time zeroing on the winning exhibit of the day.

The surprise event, “Treasure Hunt” organised for the students of class 9 raised the adrenaline levels of not only the participants, but also of the cheering spectators.  The exhibition renewed an interest in Maths for our students, facilitated critical thinking, enhanced creativity, elevated their confidence, and developed their communication skills.
