The story of Independence has always been the most incredible of all stories that we as Indians have enjoyed. We are grateful for the freedom we have and the nation we have been born to. After a week-long celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav through a series of short events, a grand Independence Day programme was organized by M.C.Kejriwal Vidyapeeth on 15 August 2022, commemorating the completion of 75 glorious years of independence, at the school campus.

Patriotic feelings ran high as our esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Rahul Roy, an alumnus of the school, and Inspector in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, hoisted the national flag amidst the beats of drums, a spectacular march drill and resonating applause. Our Director, Mr. Neelkantha Gupta,  Principal, Ms. Mallika Mukherjee, Headmaster, Mr. Biswajit Majumdar, and Trustee, Mr. Abhay Kejriwal also graced the occasion with their presence. The spirit of patriotism permeated across the entire campus when the entire school sang the national anthem in unison.

As always, the audience listened with rapt attention to our Director’s address on the core philosophy behind India’s beauty of diversity. The speech delivered by Hiten Golchha, our School Captain, highlighting the role of youth and their duty towards the nation was inspiring too. The CEO of the MCKV group of institutions, Prof. Partha Sarathi Chakraborty, raised some thought-provoking questions through his speech.

The major highlight of the day was the Prefects’ Investiture Ceremony and the oath-taking. The ceremony was a momentous occasion where the school entrusted hope, faith and the mantle of responsibility to the newly appointed members of the student council. Our Chief Guest, Mr. Rahul Roy, our Director, Mr.Neelkantha Gupta, our Principal, Ms. Mallika Mukherjee and our Headmaster, Mr. Biswajit Majumdar, draped our young leaders with the ceremonial sash bearing the badge of office, and invested them with the authority to lead 3000 odd students.

The programme featured a melodious rendition of Tagore’s eternal song ‘Ekla Cholo Re’, and superb mono-acts depicting the lives of two of the most famous freedom fighters of the Indian freedom struggle - Bhagat Singh and  Ram Prasad Bismil.

Our Chief Guest, Director, Principal and Trustee gave away prizes and certificates to the winners of various inter-house  competitions held earlier in the scholastic session 2022-2023, acknowledging and appreciating the commendable efforts of our students.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, followed by his motivational address. The vote of thanks proposed by our newly elected School Vice Captain, Uday Kumar Bansal, also deserves a special mention.

The day was just the perfect occasion to foster a sense of belongingness towards our country among our students, and inspire them to be modern, worthy sons of our motherland.
