Navigating Career Choices: A Guide for Parents

Most students of Secondary Stage experience confusion regarding choosing a suitable stream to study, which would help them discover the most apt career based on their aptitude and interests. Unfortunately, there is an absolute lack of awareness about the various career options available for students. This dilemma is further accentuated while taking suggestions from elders, peers, and parents. Everyone has a different perspective when it comes to career advice, and while that is not entirely wrong, the decision might not be an ideal one. Keeping this in mind, the Wellness Centre of M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth organized an interactive session Navigating Career Choices: A Guide for Parents on 3 August 2024 for the parents of Class 10.

The goal behind hosting the session was to raise awareness among our parents, highlighting their role as mentors and guides while their children undergo the crucial process of making informed and meaningful career decisions. The key speaker for the session was Mr Amitabh Mohan (MD, HLS, India).

A PowerPoint presentation by Secondary Stage Coordinator, Ms Sanchita Sarkar, highlighting the benefits and need for students to continue in a regular school rather than a dummy one in the Senior Secondary classes was much-appreciated by the parents.

The session ended with a question and answer segment adding meaning to the interaction.

The session would prove invaluable to our parents, who would be in a better position to reach out to their children while they make their career choices.
