Rooted in Responsibility: Young Voices for a Greener Tomorrow

Published on: 02 Jul 2025

Middle School students at M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth embraced their role as young environmental stewards through thoughtful, experiential learning activities that celebrated both awareness and action.

On 2 July 2025, Class 8 students led the way with a peer-learning session on ‘Sustainable Living’ for their juniors in Class 7. Demonstrating innovative and eco-friendly practices—such as making shoe polish from banana peels, creating seed balls, and recycling waste into bio-enzymes—they empowered their peers with practical skills for a greener future. The session concluded with an open forum, sparking thoughtful and compelling discussions among students.

Earlier, as a creative expression of their environmental consciousness, Class 8 students wrote heartfelt letters to Mother Earth, expressing gratitude, remorse, and a renewed pledge to protect the planet.

The occasion was graced by Director, Mr Neelkantha Gupta, Headmaster, Mr Biswajit Majumdar, and Academic Coordinator, Ms Debjani Kundu, whose presence greatly encouraged the young learners. In his address, Mr Gupta congratulated the Geography Department for spearheading the initiative and urged students to adopt sustainable practices in their everyday lives.

As part of the ongoing Nature-Based Learning Programme, Class 6 students participated in a reflective activity titled “A World Without Trees.” Through this, they explored the indispensable role trees play in human life and identified common household items made from timber—fostering awareness and empathy for the natural world.

These initiatives not only deepened students’ environmental understanding but also instilled in them a strong sense of personal responsibility—planting the seeds for a greener tomorrow.
