Skywatching Workshop at MCKV – A Journey into the Cosmos

Published on: 24 Nov 2025

M. C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth organised an engaging Skywatching Workshop on 24 November 2025, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., offering students a fascinating introduction to observational astronomy. Conducted in collaboration with Skywatching Workshop, a Registered Space Tutor of ISRO, the session combined hands-on learning with real-time celestial observation.

Students understood the working mechanisms of telescopes and learned how they aid in astronomical studies. Under expert supervision, they viewed sunspots safely using solar-protected telescopes. A hands-on segment allowed participants to discover the basics of telescope construction using professional components, sparking curiosity about optical science.

The highlight of the evening was observing the Sun, sunspots, the Moon, Saturn, and other visible celestial objects through advanced telescopes guided by trained astronomy educators. Students from Classes 8, 9, and 11 participated enthusiastically and expressed interest in more such experiential sessions.

The workshop was attended by Director, Mr Neelkantha Gupta, Headmaster, Mr Biswajit Majumdar, and Academic Coordinators, who encouraged students to explore the wonders of space science. Director Sir in his address talked about  the upcoming Astronomy Club, inspiring students to pursue the limitless possibilities of the cosmos.
