A Cosmic Adventure: Celebrations of National Space Day 2024
Published on: 23 Aug 2024
National Space Day was instituted by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in 2023 to commemorate the Chandrayaan -3 mission’s historic landing on the Moon’s south pole as a mark of celebration of India’s growing prowess in space exploration.
To honour the historic achievement and ensure that students across all levels (Pre-Nursery to Class 12) are actively involved in India’s space achievement, MCKV hosted a variety of programmes.
All the events were designed to reflect this year’s theme, “Touching lives while touching the moon: India’s Space Saga”. These fun activities included space vocabulary, identification of constellations contest, role play on space, space art, collage making, cosmic art model-making, to name a few.
Young children dressed as astronauts, robots, celestial bodies, comets, and other elements of space made the vast expanse of space come to life. The model of Lunar Rover, Solar System, Sun Dial, and Phases of Moon deserve a special mention.
This landmark day provided an opportunity to inspire the students to dream big and explore the frontiers of science and technology, thus broadening their understanding of space and science while igniting a passion for it.
