Sports is the celebration of the human spirit. It is the key to the overall development of a child. Gone are the days when it was deemed as extracurricular. Today, many a character is shaped in the sports field.

M.C. Kejriwal Vidyapeeth organized Junior Olympiad 2023 on 7 January at the school campus for the students of the Foundational and Primary Stages. It was a great honour to have Dr George Allen John, IPS, Assistant Commissioner of Police, North Howrah, as the Chief Guest for the event. The inaugural welcome by our Chairman, Mr Kishan Kumar Kejriwal and releasing of balloons set the tone for the day. Our Chief Guest declared the Meet open after the brilliant March Past and oath-taking ceremony.

The colourful and vibrant Fancy Walk by the students won the hearts of all the spectators. It was a pleasure to see our tiny tots of Nursery dressed as ‘mobile phones’, and ‘laptops’ on one hand, and ‘the rainbow’ and ‘sun’ on the other, emphasising the need for harmonious coexistence of technology with nature. The boys of Kindergarten promoted unity in diversity through their walk, as they celebrated the myriad cultures of our country, while the Pre-Nursery champs brought to life characters from popular rhymes.

The cold winter morning brightened up as the participants geared up for various racing events. Be it  ' Shopping Time', ‘Relay Race’, ‘Bucket Race’ or ‘Getting Ready for School ' the little ones proved to be the real stars of the show.

The astounding drill display by Classes 1 and 2, a reflection of discipline, collaboration and teamwork, left the audience awestruck.

Among all the items, the Tug-of-war proved to be a winner. Our young emcees Indrashish Mukherjee, Souhardya Paul and Devesh Rathi from Class 5 deserve a special mention for orchestrating the two-hour-long show with such flair and confidence.

In the end, the encouraging address by our Chief Guest made all of us feel special. Right from the word go, the day celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship, enthusiasm and camaraderie. As the little ones left for home, the spring in their steps, the smile on their faces and the joy in their hearts filled the school campus with radiance and euphoria.
