An unforgettable experience!
In a nutshell I felt incredibly fortunate to be part of the Sandakphu trek arranged by our school MCKV.
On 14 May 2023 we all assembled at Howrah Station and departed for NJP by Vande Bharat Express. From NJP we moved to Maneybhanjan (Gateway to Sandakphu) by car, from where our trek began. One the first day of the trek, we woke up to a misty morning, hailstorm & thick fog. We reached Tumling that day. On the second day, on our way to Kalipokhri, we came across a beautiful lake and lush-green meadows. Walking through the rocky paths of Singalila National Park was a magnificent experience. On the third day the weather continued to play spoil-sport. It was an out-of-the-world experience as we trekked through a difficult trail & reached Sandakphu, from where the snowcapped Kanchanjunga and the Sleeping Buddha were partially visible. We also experienced the adventurous Bengal Safari and did shopping at Hong Kong market in Siliguri once we came back to the plains. The entire team was an enthusiastic lot who supported each other throughout the journey.
Truly, trekking is like an addiction. Once we experience the serenity of the hills, we want to experience that even more.
